Like many who have gone on before me, I’m moving into unfamiliar territory. The Blogging and Twitter-world are not arenas I’ve spent a lot of time in until recently. I must confess that I’ve been more comfortable with a face-to-face conversation over a cup of coffee, or a real tangible book that I can actually hold and turn the pages of. So when the idea was suggested that I should jump into this world I quickly spout back the typical excuses that most people do I suppose, “I don’t have time,” “No one wants to hear what I have to say,” and “No one is going to read it any way.”
But in the past few months that I’ve actually been building time into my life to follow different people on twitter and their blogs I’ve been energized by the exchange of ideas, the mutual push to continue to grow and learn, and the new relationships that are emerging. So great thanks for this moment, is due in no small part, to those of you who have encouraged me, harassed me, given me articles to read, pointed me to your favorite blogs, and even made fun of me for not doing this sooner.
And while I’ve received encouragement to tackle topics such as leading in times of crisis, staffing, power, tending to your soul, developing effective strategies, (as you can tell I’ve received a lot of suggestions) vision, family, and building a culture instead of a company; my hope is simply to add a small piece to a larger conversation, listen and learn from you, and of course continue growing as a husband, leader, minister of the Gospel, and simply as a person. Looking forward to the journey!
